COLOURLOCK GLD-Solvent is a highly effective liquid solvent designed for professionals and experienced users in the field of leather restoration. This 250 ml package is ideal for larger projects where extensive staining from textiles needs to be removed or large leather surfaces need to be prepared for new paint application.
Removes the most stubborn stains: Effectively combats dye migration from jeans, belts, handbags, or pen marks.
Dissolves the top coat: An essential step in professional leather repair – prepares the surface so that new paint adheres perfectly.
Versatile use: Can be used for cleaning, but also for correcting mistakes in freshly applied paint (smoothing out unevenness).
Economical packaging: The 250 ml volume is suitable for detailing studios and upholstery shops.
The product is primarily intended for pigmented (smooth) leather:
Leather repair and restoration: Breaking down old pigment before dyeing.
Deep cleaning: Removal of foreign pigments that have penetrated the lacquer structure.
Surface correction: Smoothing rough spots on old lacquered surfaces.
Cleaning test: Before using GLD, always try cleaning the area with a regular cleaning agent (e.g., COLOURLOCK Strong Cleaner). If stains are still visible, proceed to use GLD.
Tolerance test: Before full-surface application, test the product on a hidden spot. Observe how quickly it reacts with the original paint.
Cleaning procedure: Apply a small amount of GLD to a clean, white microfiber cloth. Gently and with minimal pressure, work over the surface.
Dissolving warning: Using GLD causes the original paint to be etched (analogous to). If the paint starts to transfer onto the cloth, it is a sign that the surface will require paint restoration (e.g., with a Leather Fresh tinting set).
Stopping the reaction: After achieving the desired result, it is important to stop the process using a regular leather cleaner (Leather Cleaner) to prevent the solvent from penetrating deeper into the leather.
Final treatment: After evaporation and cleaning, the surface is ideally prepared for applying pigments and protective lacquers.
Material check: Never use on aniline leather, nubuck, or suede (risk of deep oily stains).
Personal protective equipment: Wear gloves when working and ensure adequate ventilation of the space.
Protect from extremes: Store at room temperature. Protect from frost, direct sunlight, and heat sources (flammable).
Keep out of reach of children.
